(Long Turn)
- 在陈述中用 “First / Next / Finally” 或 “On one hand / On the other hand” 等连接词来梳理思路
(That’s an interesting question... / Let me think for a moment...)。
或 “To sum up…”
(Discussion)

And explain why you want to know more about it
I'd like to talk about pandas, which I saw at the Beijing Zoo during a family trip when I was about twelve years old. It was such an unforgettable experience seeing these incredible creatures up close for the first time.
- during a family trip
At the zoo, I watched this giant panda lazily munching on bamboo, completely absorbed in its meal. What struck me most was how calm and peaceful it seemed, almost like it was lost in its own world while eating. The panda's movements were so slow and deliberate, yet there was something absolutely charming about its clumsiness when it tried to reach for bamboo stalks.
- munching on bamboo 嚼着竹子
munch verb /mʌntʃ/ [intransitive, transitive] to eat sth steadily and often noisily, especially sth hard and/or dry
synonym chomp
- What struck me most was 最让我印象深刻的是
I'm fascinated by pandas and want to learn more about them because they seem like such mysterious creatures. Despite being bears, they're almost entirely vegetarian, which is quite unusual in the animal kingdom. I'm curious about how they've evolved to survive on such a low-nutrition diet and why they're so incredibly rare. Their black and white coloring is also intriguing - I wonder if there's a specific reason for this unique pattern.
- intriguing adj. /ɪnˈtriːɡɪŋ/ very interesting because of being unusual or not having an obvious answer
What really draws me to them is their gentle nature combined with their endangered status. Understanding more about their behavior, habitat needs, and conservation efforts could help me appreciate how we can better protect these amazing animals for future generations.
- draw me 吸引我
Part 3
- Why are some people more willing to protect wild animals than others?
- empathize verb /ˈempəθaɪz/ (British English also empathise) [intransitive] empathize (with somebody/something) to understand another person’s feelings and experiences, especially because you have been in a similar situation
People’s willingness to protect wild animals often depends on their values, upbringing, and level of exposure to nature. Those who grow up in environments where environmental education is emphasised tend to develop a stronger sense of responsibility towards wildlife. In contrast, people who are more focused on immediate economic benefits may see animals as resources rather than living beings that deserve protection.
Additionally, emotional connection plays a key role. If someone has had meaningful experiences with animals—such as visiting nature reserves or learning about endangered species—they are more likely to empathise with them. On the other hand, a lack of awareness or distance from nature can lead to indifference, simply because people do not fully understand the consequences of wildlife loss.
- Do you think it’s important to take children to zoo to see animals?
Yes, I believe it is important, provided that the zoos are ethical and well-managed. For many children, zoos offer their first direct exposure to wild animals, which can spark curiosity and foster respect for nature. Seeing animals in real life is far more impactful than learning about them through books or screens, especially at a young age.
That said, zoos should not function purely as entertainment venues. They should prioritise animal welfare and education. If children are taught why certain animals are endangered and how humans affect their habitats, zoos can play a meaningful role in shaping environmentally responsible attitudes. Otherwise, without proper guidance, the educational value of zoo visits can be quite limited.
