(Long Turn)
  • 在陈述中用 “First / Next / Finally” 或 “On one hand / On the other hand” 等连接词来梳理思路
(That’s an interesting question... / Let me think for a moment...)。
  • 若时间快到,可用一句 “In conclusion…”“To sum up…”
(Discussion)

Part 2

Describe a natural talent you want to improve.
You should say:
What it is
When you discovered it
How you want to improve it
And explain how you feel about it

I’d like to talk about my ability to use language creatively, particularly in spoken English.
I first became aware of this talent during my university years, when I started doing presentations and informal interpreting. I realised that I was quite good at expressing abstract ideas clearly and adapting my language to different audiences, even under time pressure. However, I also noticed that there was still room for improvement, especially in terms of fluency and spontaneity.
  1. spontaneity noun /ˌspɒntəˈneɪəti//ˌspɑːntəˈneɪəti/ [uncountable] the quality of being spontaneous
  1. room for improvement
To improve this talent, I actively engage in activities such as shadowing native speakers, analysing high-level spoken discourse, and practising structured speaking on complex topics. I also try to push myself to speak more freely, rather than focusing too much on accuracy, because real communication requires both precision and flow.
  1. engage in activities
  1. analyse high-level spoken discourse
  1. practise structured speaking on complex topics
Overall, I feel very motivated about developing this talent. Language is not just a tool for communication; it’s also a way to express identity and thinking patterns. Improving it gives me a strong sense of personal growth and confidence.
  1. feel motivated about…
  1. express identity and thinking patterns

Part 3

  1. Is it possible for us to know children who are 3 or 4 years old will become musicians and painters when they grow up?
I think it’s possible to identify early tendencies, but it’s far too early to make reliable predictions. At that age, children may show strong interests in music or drawing, which can indicate potential, but talent alone is not enough to determine future outcomes.
      1. indicate potential
      1. determine future outcomes
Becoming a musician or painter usually depends on long-term exposure, training, and encouragement, rather than innate ability alone. Without sustained support, early talent can easily fade. So while early signs can be interesting, they shouldn’t be taken as fixed indicators of a child’s future career.
      1. long-term exposure
      1. innate ability
  1. Why do people like to watch talent shows?
I think one major reason is that talent shows combine entertainment with emotional engagement. Viewers are not just watching performances; they are also following personal stories of struggle, growth, and transformation.
      1. talent show [C]
      1. combine entertainment with emotional engagement
In addition, these programmes create a sense of participation. Audiences feel involved by voting, discussing contestants on social media, or imagining themselves in similar situations. This emotional connection makes the experience far more engaging than simply watching a performance in isolation.
      1. contestants /kənˈtestənts/
      1. emotional connection
      1. in isolation
