Part 1
Public transport
- What kind of public transport do you usually take?
I usually take the subway because it’s not affected by traffic jams. It’s also quite convenient since most stations are located near shopping areas or office buildings, so it easily fits into my daily routine.
- Did you take public transport when you were a kid?
- route noun /ruːt/, /raʊt/
Not really. In my hometown, buses were pretty much the only form of public transport back then, and the routes were quite limited. So my family usually preferred riding a bicycle or driving instead of waiting ages for a bus.
- Do most people prefer public transport?
I guess it depends. In big cities, many people rely on public transport because it’s cheaper and avoids the stress of driving in heavy traffic. But in smaller towns, people tend to prefer driving their own cars since it offers more flexibility and comfort.
- When do you usually take public transport?
- jammed adj.
- cycle verb /ˈsaɪkl/ [intransitive] (especially British English) to ride a bicycle; to travel by bicycle
Mostly during rush hours, like when I commute to and from work. I normally take the subway because it’s faster than driving, especially when the roads are jammed. On weekends, though, I prefer walking or cycling if the distance isn’t too long.
