Part 1
Patience
  1. Are you a patient person?
    1. 参考答案
I'd say I'm fairly patient in most situations. I don't mind waiting in queues or dealing with small delays. However, my patience does have limits, especially when it comes to repetitive problems that could be easily fixed. Overall, I try to stay calm and understand that some things just take time.
      • wait in queues 排队等候
        • queue noun /kjuː/
      • deal with small delays 处理/应对小的延误
      • repetitive adj. /rɪˈpetətɪv/ 重复乏味的;多次重复的
  1. What is it that makes you feel impatient?
    1. 参考答案
Traffic jams really drive me crazy! There's nothing worse than sitting in my car, watching the minutes tick by when I'm already running late for an important meeting. I start checking the time every thirty seconds and drumming my fingers on the steering wheel. It's especially frustrating when I can see the traffic light changing but we're not moving at all!
      • tick by phrasal verb
        • tick away/by/past (of time时间) to pass 过去;流逝
        • I had to get to the airport by two, and the minutes were ticking away. 我必须在两点前赶到机场,时间正在一分一秒地过去。
      • drum verb 连续敲击…使发出咚咚声;不停地击打
  1. How do you feel when you have to do something for a long time?
    1. 参考答案
It depends on what it is. If it's something I enjoy, like reading a good book or working on a creative project, I can happily spend hours on it. For tedious tasks, I try to break them down into smaller parts with short breaks in between to maintain my focus and patience.
      • tedious adj. /ˈtiːdiəs/ lasting or taking too long and not interesting 冗长的;啰嗦的;单调乏味的;令人厌烦的 synonym boring
  1. Does your job require you to be patient?
    1. 参考答案
Absolutely. I often need to explain complex concepts to colleagues or wait for feedback from different teams. There are also many situations where projects get delayed due to factors beyond my control. Being patient helps me maintain professional relationships and avoid unnecessary stress.
  1. Are you more patient now than when you were a child?
    1. 参考答案
Definitely! As a child, I wanted everything immediately and found waiting unbearable. Life experience has taught me that most things worth having require time and persistence. I've also learned that impatience rarely solves problems and often makes situations worse, so I've consciously developed more patience over the years.
      • unbearable adj. /ʌnˈberəbl/ too painful, annoying or unpleasant to deal with or accept 难耐的;无法接受的;难以处理的 synonym intolerable
        • opposite bearable
