Taking a break
  1. How often do you take a break?
I usually take short breaks whenever I feel tired at work. Sitting in front of a screen for too long makes me lose focus, so I’ll step away for a few minutes to stretch or grab a drink. On weekends, I make sure to take a proper rest — I sleep in a bit and spend time doing things that recharge myself.
        • sleep in on weekends(周末睡懒觉)
        • sleep in a bit(稍微多睡会儿)
        • I oversleptI slept in
  1. What do you usually do during a break?
It depends on how long the break is. If it’s just a few minutes, I’ll listen to some music or scroll through short videos — they’re everywhere these days, on platforms like TikTok and Bilibili. But if I have more time, I prefer watching a good film or TV series, something that lets me unwind completely.
      • unwind /ˌʌnˈwaɪnd/ to relax after being stressed or busy
        • 词典:[intransitive] to stop worrying or thinking about problems and start to relax 放松;轻松
          synonym relax, wind down
        • Music helps me unwind after a busy day.
  1. Do you take a nap when you are taking your rest?
I used to take naps quite often, especially after lunch, but now I rarely do because my work schedule doesn’t really allow it. Besides, a nap sometimes makes me feel more sluggish afterward, rather than refreshed. Instead, I prefer having a cup of coffee and taking a short walk to wake myself up/refresh myself.
      • sluggish adj.
  1. How do you feel after taking a nap?
If I nap for around twenty minutes, I usually feel re-energized and more focused. But if I sleep for too long, it actually has the opposite effect — I wake up groggy and disoriented. I once read that short naps are most effective because they stop you from falling into deep sleep, which makes perfect sense to me.
      • re-energize to make yourself feel full of energy again “重新充满活力”、“恢复精力”
      • groggy /ˈɡrɑːɡi/
        • weak and unable to think or move clearly because you are tired, ill, or have just woken up
          • The sleeping pills left her feeling very groggy.
          • He’s still groggy from the anaesthetic.
      • disoriented
        • confused about where you are or what is happening
词典:feeling confused and unable to think clearly 感到困惑,无法清晰思考
          • Sleep deprivation can leave people disorientated.
        • I woke up feeling completely disoriented — I couldn’t tell what time it was.
        • After the long flight, I was tired and slightly disoriented.
        • He looked disoriented after leaving the dark cinema into bright sunlight.
